MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police said they arrested a man on charges of heroin possession and resisting an officer Sunday night.

At about 8:10 p.m., officers noted some suspicious behavior near the 3100 block of North Sherman Avenue.

Police said a vehicle, driven by Leon Lane, 46, of Madison, was moving in and around the area with no lights on, and that seemed odd.

Officers stopped the vehicle, and Lane stated he had no driver's license or identification to prove his identity, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

The Madison police sergeant noticed Lane attempting to conceal his left hand, and when this was brought to Lane's attention, he was asked to step out of the car, according to the report.

Police said Lane refused, and struggled with officers as he continued to grab at an item inside the vehicle.

Police said he was eventually taken into custody.

Officers found heroin, and Lane was taken to the Dane County Jail on charges of possession of heroin, resisting/obstructing a police officer, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating while revoked.
