MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison man was sentenced Thursday to prison for distributing heroin.

Kevin Moore, 30, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 37 months in prison, followed by a three-year term of supervised release, for distribution of heroin.

Moore pleaded guilty to this charge on July 25.

Moore was distributing heroin in Madison in April and May 2012 while he was on federal supervised release, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

Consequently, Moore also received a consecutive 24-month sentence for violating a mandatory condition of release that he not commit other crimes, for a total sentence of 61 months.

On May 2, 2006, Crabb sentenced Moore to 54 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, followed by three years of supervised release.

When Moore was released from federal prison in that case, he was released to a residential reentry center. Moore escaped from that center and on June 15, 2010, Crabb sentenced him to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised
