A Madison man died in a skiing accident at a resort in the Town of Merrimac, according to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to Devils Head Ski Resort at 4:50 p.m. Saturday for a report of a skiing accident.

Investigators said Jonathan S. Hedberg, 30, was skiing down a hill when he lost control and struck a tree.

Hedberg was taken to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

Deputies don't know if Hedberg was wearing a helmet.
