A special event celebrating diversity and pride in Madison took place at the Capitol Square.
The Wisconsin Capitol Pride weekend wrapped up Aug.19 with a Pride Parade.
The colorful celebration included food, vendors and plenty of fun around the square.
Wisconsin Capitol Pride is an organization working to promote diversity and pride within the greater Madison area’s LGBTQA community and acceptance from the rest of the community.
“This brings them together and says, ‘Hey this is who we are and there’s a lot of us and we’re your neighbors, we’re your co-workers, we’re your friends, we’re your family and we just want to be treated and have the same rights as you do,” said Jason Burns, executive director for Equality Wisconsin.
The celebration wrapped up Sunday night with a rally and entertainment.
