Madison police arrested four boys Tuesday afternoon after officers confiscated a loaded handgun from a vehicle full of teens.

Police said officers made contact with the four boys after an SUV pulled into a parking lot on East Washington Avenue.

The teens, all from Madison, may have been looking to retaliate against another group of teens for an earlier battery, Madison police said.

Two 15-year-olds, a 14- and a 16-year-old were taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on suspicion of disorderly conduct, according to the report.

The report also said some of the kids in both groups are members of rival gangs.
