International festival visits Madison
Event brings thousands of visitors to Overture
People got the chance to visit the world Sunday without leaving Madison.
The 32nd International Fest kicked off at the Overture Center at noon Sunday. Dane County natives put on more than 30 presentations showcasing world cultures from Nepal to Italy.
Karra Beach, the event’s coordinator, said International Fest highlights Madison’s unique diversity.
“The main mission is to do community outreach, so this is our way of opening up the doors to the cultures that are a part of Madison,” Beach said. “All these performers are local, so this is the culture of Madison.”
The event featured live shows, souvenir shops and a variety of food from around the globe.
Promoters said they expect the festival to attract thousands of people.
