MADISON, Wis. -

At least one gunshot was fired during an armed robbery on Madison’s east side, according to a news release from Madison police.

Two men told police they were standing near a car Saturday night on Hauk Street when three men approached and demanded they turn over their possessions. The robbers took a cellphone and money. They said one of the robbers fired a gun as they ran away.

There were no reports of injuries or property damage. A shell casing was found at the scene.

Police said they believe the victims were targeted.

One of the robbers is described as a black man with a heavy build, 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 250 to 275 pounds and wearing a skullcap. One of the other robbers described a black man in his mid-20s, 6 feet tall, weighing 170 pounds and with his hair in dreadlocks.
