A Greenfield man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his live-in girlfriend in July.
Christopher Gish, 38, had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 37-year-old Margaret Litwicki at their home.
Gish pleaded guilty Monday to the lesser offense of first-degree reckless homicide. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported he faces up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 4.
According to the criminal complaint, Gish suspected Litwicki of having an affair and stabbed her.
He left in her minivan and later crashed it in an apparent failed suicide attempt. He was found dazed and wandering near Mitchell International Airport a few hours later and made comments that led police back Litwicki's home, where she was found dead.
