Fire causes $55K damages in Janesville
1 occupant in basement taken to hospital by ambulance
Authorities said a fire in Janesville Friday afternoon caused $55,000 to a home and sent one person to the hospital.
Janesville Fire Department said units responded to a report of a fire at 67 S. Harmony Dr. at about 4:30 p.m. Crews said heavy smoke was seen coming from the single-story house.
According to the report, firefighters found and extinguished a fire in the basement. A subject was located in the basement and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital, the fire department said. Fire units remained on scene for five hours, according to the report.
The report noted the loss due to fire was estimated at $55,000.
The extent of injuries to the resident taken to the hospital and information on his or her condition was not available Saturday morning.
The report early Saturday said the fire is still under investigation by the Janesville fire and police departments.
