A warrant has been issued for a 20-year-old DeForest man who is accused of sexual assault of a child after an investigation that started last August, DeForest police said.
A criminal complaint against Dustin J. Stoltz was filed in Dane County Circuit Court.
DeForest police said they received a complaint on Aug. 23, 2012, from the victim's mother that the victim, a 15-year-old girl, was missing and believed to be in DeForest based on GPS information from the victim's phone.
The mother also told police that computer information from Facebook suggested that the victim was possibly with a man named Dustin.
Police went to the man's home, and family members told police that the missing girl wasn't there. Later that day, the victim's mother told police that the victim had arrived home by unknown means.
Police said a subsequent interview with the victim revealed that she had met the suspect through Facebook and began communicating during the late summer of 2012 and met for sexual intercourse twice at the suspect's home.
Police said they also determined that the victim was at the home when police contacted the residents. The suspect's grandmother was later cited for obstructing an officer/investigation, according to the DeForest Police Department.
Police said they recovered DNA evidence and it was recently analyzed by the State Crime Lab, providing probable cause for criminal charges.
