DEFOREST, Wis. -

A group of jogging Santas in the DeForest area brought plenty of holiday cheer to area children on Saturday morning.

Organizer Jean Allen said a group of friends and family started an annual Christmas Eve run about 10 years ago. Now, runners dress up like Santa and hand out gifts to children in town and even give candy canes to the grownups they see along the way.

Group members said the reactions they get are the best.

"That's what made us do it, is the kids coming out and just smiling and being so happy," said Allen. "And getting other kids out to see us. People are driving down the road taking pictures of us with their cameras in their car and beeping their horns saying, 'Merry Christmas.' It's just such a good feeling to see everyone happy for the whole hour that we're out."
