Crash turns fatal in northern Illinois

Police: 60-year-old male died in crash Tuesday

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. -

A crash in Winnebago County, Ill. turned fatal Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle caught on fire, said police.

Road construction on eastbound U.S. Route 20 near Alpine road slowed traffic to approximately 25 miles per hour, police said. Dean Fisher, 54, slowed the Mack truck he was driving and was rear-ended by a Chevrolet, said police. The Chevrolet immediately caught fire, Illinois State Police said.

The crash is under investigation by Illinois State Police.
