Dane and Rock County police officers are reminding people to celebrate responsibly with safe rides during Super Bowl weekend.
Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney said in a statement that local law enforcement officers have teamed up with the U.S. Department of Transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and National Football League and Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management to promote sober drivers for Super Bowl Sunday.
Rock County Police Sgt. Doug Coulter reminded citizens in a statement that the county has a zero-tolerance policy when dealing with impaired driving.
Both officers suggested choosing a sober designated driver for the weekend’s festivities.
According to Dane County’s statement, the NHTSA counted 10,228 people who were killed in drunk-driving crashes in 2010.
