A 51-year-old woman’s cat was put down after being shot in the 2500 block of McKenna Blvd.d in early Oct.
According to police, on Oct. 2, the woman had a repairman working on the door to her house, and her cats were allowed to come and go from the home.
When the woman’s daughter came home, she found the cat, Gaoth, whining and lying in a hallway.
Police say the cat had a hip injury, about the size of a nickel, and was bleeding.
The 51-year-old woman took Gaoth to a veterinarian, who discovered the cat had been shot and that a small-caliber bullet had gone into the hip, through the stomach and was lodged in the animals right side.
The cat had to be euthanized. The veterinarian bill was over $780.
The woman notified police of the crime Oct. 5 but said it occurred on Oct. 2.
At first, she was not going to notify police, but she decided she should out of fear that someone in her neighborhood might shoot someone else’s pet.
