Two cars were damaged and a man narrowly escaped injury in two hit-and-run incidents on Madison’s near east side Sunday, according to police.
Police were called to Williamson Street and Ingersoll Street at 12:21 p.m. for a report of a hit-and-run crash. Officers said a car slammed into a parked car, missing a 48-year-old Madison man and causing significant damage to the parked car.
The same car had sideswiped another car on Williamson Street moments earlier, according to police.
Witnesses got a photograph of the license plate on the fleeing car, and an officer found the suspect vehicle minutes later.
Police said the car was abandoned in the 900 block of East Main Street.
The registered owner of the car, Justin, T. Brooks, 31, of Monona, was cited on suspicion of two counts of vehicle owners’ liability for failure to stop at an accident.
The citation was sent to Brooks by certified mail.
