Capitol Christmas tree on its way from Central Wis.
Balsam fir from Medford to arrive Wednesday
A balsam fir from Medford will grace the rotunda at the State Capitol this holiday season.
The 37-foot tree was selected from Meyer's Castle Tree Farm last week and is on its way to the Capitol Wednesday.
Gov. Scott Walker invited students throughout the state to help decorate the tree by submitting handmade ornaments by Nov. 19.
Fourth-graders from Medford Elementary and Stetsonville Elementary schools have been invited to sing at the tree lighting ceremony in Madison Nov. 30.
WSAW-TV reported that the Meyer farm also provided the White House Christmas tree in 1998.
Medford is about 50 miles west of Wausau, Wis.
