Bus driver loses job after political argument with boy
81-year-old had 20-year clean record before incident
As if anyone needed further proof that political conversations can have unexpected and undesirable outcomes, a bus driver was fired in New Berlin after she got into a political argument.
With a 12-year-old boy.
The boy, a seventh grader named Joey, was reportedly chanting “Romney” on his school bus.
According to him, that’s when the 81-year-old bus driver instructed him to come to the front of the bus.
“I said that Obama's pro-abortion,” said Joey, “and she said, ‘well, maybe your mother should have chosen abortion for you.'”
Joey’s mother was unsurprisingly surprised by the story.
“I'm like, 'oh my goodness! You did not just get told that from a bus driver!'” she said.
Joey's mother said the verbal abuse started weeks ago, when the driver saw a Romney-Ryan sign in their yard.
Prior to this incident, the driver had a clean record that spanned more than 20 years.
The school district fired the driver after an investigation.
