VILLAGE OF BEETOWN, Wis. -

A Cassville man accused of breaking into a residence was arrested after a standoff with Grant County law enforcement officers Tuesday night, deputies said.

Grant County sheriff’s deputies were sent around 9:10 p.m. to a residence on County Road U in the village of Beetown for reports of a man breaking into a residence, according to a release.

Deputies found the back door of the residence broken open, and found 29-year-old Joe Koelker, of Cassville, inside, officials said.

Koelker refused to cooperate with law enforcement officers, which resulted in a standoff that lasted several hours, according to the release.

Koelker eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without incident, officials said.

He was arrested on tentative charges of burglary, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
