A bicyclist was hurt when he was struck by a car that fled the scene on Madison's west side last Thursday.
Police said a car tried to pass another by pulling to the right and into the bike lane of Hammersley Road, near Loruth Terrace, when it crashed into a bicyclist who rolled up and off the hood of the car at about 5:23 p.m.
Police said the driver didn't stop.
The victim, a 55-year-old Madison man who was wearing a helmet, suffered abrasions but was not seriously injured, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
His bike was damaged and could not be ridden after the hit-and-run crash.
Police said the driver was described as a black man about 15 to 19 years old who was driving a boxy maroon sedan with no rear license plate. The sedan model was from the 1990s to early 2000s.
Police said anyone with information on the car or its driver should contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward.
