Beloit man, 23, in critical condition after a.m. rollover crash
Deputy says alcohol, speed were factors in accident
An early-morning truck rollover Saturday left a Beloit man in critical condition, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Department.
Public safety responders found Samuel Timmons, 23, unconscious and pinned inside a 1997 Chevy S-10 near Newark, Wis., at about 2:45 a.m. Emergency personnel had to free Timmons from the truck. He was flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital and remains in critical condition, according to the report.
Rock County Sgt. Karl Weberg said the pickup failed to negotiate a sharp curve on South Highway K near West Avon North Townline Road, went into the ditch and rolled over multiple times. The truck was on its passenger side when responders arrived.
Weberg said it appears alcohol and speed were factors in the crash. The Rock County Sheriff's Department cited Timmons on suspicion of operating while intoxicate, second offense; operating after revocation; and driving too fast for conditions.
The single-vehicle crash occurred about four miles south of Orfordville, Wis.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office, Orfordville Fire Department and Janesville EMS had responded to the accident.
