JANESVILLE, Wis. -- Lightning has struck twice for one Rock County family. Another white buffalo calf was recently born at a Janesville farm. It's been 12 years since the Heider family received worldwide attention after their first white buffalo calf was born. The family named her Miracle. This time, the calf, unrelated to Miracle, is a male, named Miracle's Second Chance. The newest white buffalo is almost 3 weeks old, and the Heiders said they're not sure whether they'd like to experience all the international fanfare again. After Native Americans saw Miracle as a prophecy leading to world peace, thousands from around the world visited the Heider farm for several years. The Heiders said the sight of Miracle's Second Chance quickly brought back old memories of Miracle."Went over the hill and gone into the second pasture, and here's this white calf standing there sucking on a cow," said Dave Heider. "Still very wet, couple hours old at the most. And the first thought through my mind was just, unbelievable. How it could happen again?""And he asked if we wanted to be famous again," said wife Valerie Heider. "And I said, ' Why?' and he says, 'Because we have another miracle.' I said, 'You gotta be kidding me. Here we go again.'"The original Miracle died in 2004, but the family said visitors continue to stop by.There's no definitive statistic on the rarity of a white buffalo, but the Heiders said some have told them the chances of a white buffalo birth are one in 10 million.
