Mom Killed During Teen's Driving Lesson

Posted: 6:36 am CDT August 7, 2006

Police said a 15-year-old girl in New Jersey accidentally struck and killed her mother while being taught how to parallel park.

Tina Rowe, 39, was teaching her how to parallel park at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the girl backed the car over her, police said. Rowe died after being pinned under the 1997 Chevy Cavalier. Police believe the girl may have hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

Emergency crews arrived to get the car off her, but Rowe was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident took place on private property, so there would be no criminal charges filed, according to the Courier-Post.
