Collision Between Cars, Onion Truck Clogs West Beltline

Truck's Onions Spilled Onto Road

Updated: 1:07 pm CDT August 4, 2006

A messy situation on the West Beltline on Friday morning slowed the morning commute to a crawl.

Three cars were stopped in heavy traffic at Todd Drive and the Beltline when a fourth rear-ended one of them, according to Dane County officials.

A semi then rear-ended the fourth car, pushing it into the other three cars.

The semi was carrying a load of onions, some of which spilled onto the road, WISC-TV reported.

Two lanes of westbound traffic were blocked until after 9:30 a.m.

Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
