There was a small wave of storms across southern Wisconsin Tuesday evening, but it was a misguided squirrel that caused some to go without power.

While the power was back on by 10 p.m., a little more than 1,000 people were without power during a major heat wave.

The power was out between High Point Road and Junction Road, from Mineral Point Road on the south to the Kesslers Jeweler area on the north.

Power was also out at the intersection of Mineral Point Road and the Beltline. Police were set to bring in portable stop signs, WISC-TV reported.

While some apartments were without power, the outage mostly affected businesses including Target, Kesslers and Harbor Athletic Club.

Outback Steakhouse did not have a generator and sent patrons home at about 6:45 p.m.

The outage lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. The lights were back on at about 8 p.m., WISC-TV reported.
