Records Reveal Violations At Madison's 3 Hospitals
St. Mary's Recently Cited After Investigation

MADISON, Wis. -- After the death of a patient at St. Mary's Hospital earlier this month because of a medication error, WISC-TV asked the state Department of Health and Family Services for a list of all citations issued to the three Madison hospitals.The records revealed that since January 2000 up until -- but not including the death of Jasmine Gant -- St. Mary's had the fewest state violations with four and had no federal citations.Meriter had nine state citations and 10 federal citations.And UW Hospitals and Clinics, the largest of the three, had 36 state violations and 23 federal violations.
