FITCHBURG, Wis. -- A proposal to ban smoking similar to the one already in place in Madison was put forward at the Fitchburg City Council on Tuesday night.Council Member Steve Arnold introduced the ordinance, but the idea is only in the early stages of discussion, WISC-TV reported.Fitchburg Mayor Tom Clauder said that he is opposed to a ban with no exceptions."This isn't government at its best, when we tell people what to do with every turn," Clauder said.
