Closing Arguments Set For Monday In Travel Contract Case

State Employee Accused Of Fraud

Posted: 4:27 pm CDT June 10, 2006

Closing arguments are scheduled to start Monday in the federal trial of a state employee charged with fraud.

Georgia Thompson is accused of steering a state travel contract to the Adelman Travel Group. Its executives contributed to Gov. Jim Doyle's re-election campaign.

On the witness stand Thursday, Thompson cited specific reasons why she went with Adelman Travel.

But in a videotape shown in court Thursday, she said she could not recall why she pushed for Adelman to win the deal.
