BratFest Fails To Set Record

Current Record Was Set In 2004

Updated: 9:05 am CDT May 30,2006

For the second year in a row, there wasn't a new record number of brats sold at Madison's BratFest.

The annual event, billed as the world's largest, was held near the Alliant Energy Center throughout Memorial Day weekend.

Organizers said that the hot weather caused them to come up a bit short of last year's tally, and well short of the overall record set two years ago, WISC-TV reported.

Final tallies show about 180, 300 brats were sold.

This number is down more than 9,000 brats from two years ago when the current record was set, WISC-TV reported.
