DNR May Spare Life Of Dells Wolf

Groups Started E-Mail Campaign For Wolf

Posted: 5:26 pm CDT May 20, 2006

The Department of Natural Resources may not kill the wolf or wolf dog spotted near Wisconsin Dells after all.

That's because a wolf conservation group bombarded the DNR with e-mails requesting that the wolf's life be spared.

The agency was going to trap and kill the wolf because it had recently attacked a dog and a calf.

The outcry from wolf supporters has prompted the DNR to decide to try and capture and tranquilize the animal, then send it to the Wildlife Science Center in Minnesota, WISC-TV reported.
