A wolf or wolf dog that WISC-TV first reported on a couple of months ago is at the center of a growing controversy.

Photos of the animal were taken at a farm in the town of Newport near the Wisconsin Dells, where the animal has been sighted a number of times.

Now the Wisconsin Dells Events newspaper has reported the wolf or wolf dog has attacked a calf and a dog but neither was killed.

The paper also reports the animal may be trapped by the DNR and possibly killed.

Animal rights groups are now waging an e-mail effort to have the animal taken to a sanctuary if it is trapped.
