One of the largest bonds in Rock County history has been set for the man accused of killing Julienne McGuire at her downtown Beloit office.

The criminal complaint indicates she died of stab wounds to the chest and her throat was cut.

Shawn Brooks appeared in court via closed circuit television from the Rock County Jail.

Citing the vicious nature of the crime and Brooks' lengthy criminal record, Rock County District Attorney David O'Leary asked for one a $1 million cash bond.

Investigators said they also found McGuire's jewelry inside Brooks' home.

Brooks will be back in court next month, WISC-TV reported.
