Police: Bodies Found In Lagoon Are Missing Wisconsin Boys
Updated: 3:42 pm CDT April 15, 2006
MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police do not suspect foul play in the deaths of two boys whose bodies were recovered from a park lagoon near where they disappeared almost a month ago, Chief Nan Hegerty said Saturday.Hegerty said the bodies were positively identified as those of 12-year old Quadrevion Henning and 11-year-old Purvis Parker. She said the first body was recovered last night around 7:20 p.m by a man and his son walking through McGovern Park.A medical examiner said autopsy results indicated that the deaths were consistent with an accidental drowning, and there was no evidence of injury or foul play. The families of the boys identified their bodies before the official announcement.Angela Virginia said she identified her son, Purvis Parker, 11, from a photo that police showed her.The Henning family identified 12-year-old Quadrevion Henning on Friday night."The discovery does bring closure to the families right now. Is it the type of closure that we were hoping for? No, it's not, but it does help us get ready to go to that next level and finish things out and just continue," Hennings's uncle, Dennis Frazier, said. The boys disappeared March 19. They were last seen on the afternoon when they asked Henning's grandfather whether they could play basketball at the park.Authorities said the bodies were fully clothed and had been in the lagoon for quite some time.Police fielded hundreds of calls on a tip line offering possible leads. The boys' families said the two had no history of running away and had good school attendance records. The Henning family thanked the community for their search efforts. The Parker family refused comment Saturday morning.
