MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Metropolitan School District's school board voted on Monday to include additions to Leopold Elementary School in next year's operating budget. The proposal passed by a 4-3 margin.A final vote on the plan will come at a later meeting, but the board's vote essentially means that construction can start on the project despite the fact that a referendum authorizing the school to raise funds for the addition was defeated last week. The new Leopold cafeteria is slated to be done by January with two new classrooms ready by fall 2007.
