Owner Blames Smoking Ban For East Side Bar Closing

MADISON, Wis. -- The owners of an East Side bar said Madison's smoking ban has left them no choice but to close.Hammer Time will close its doors next Saturday, April 8, after more than 70 years as a corner bar.One year ago, the bar was pulling in about $1,000 a day. Now, owners said they're lucky to bring in $200 a day.There was some speculation that Hammer Time may have been in financial trouble before the smoking ban, but owners said that is not the case.
