Family, Friends Gather For Student's Funeral
Semi Driver Remains Unconscious

PLAINFIELD, Wis. -- Schools were closed on Monday in the Tri-County School District to honor the student who was killed last week in the crash between a school bus and a semi near Plainfield.David Senft, 14, was buried on Monday, and school officials canceled classes so his classmates and school staff could attend his funeral, WISC-TV reported.Senft's mother is a teacher at the high school.Meanwhile, State Patrol investigators haven't been able to talk to the semi driver who plowed into the back of a school bus because he remains unconscious.Barry Jacobson, of Nekoosa, is still in critical condition at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.State Patrol Lt. Timothy Carnahan said that investigators are still analyzing electronic equipment from the semi to try to determine exactly how fast it was going at the time of the crash.Carnahan said that it's believed to have been going around the speed limit, judging by the amount of damage. He said that there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the brakes.Five other people were seriously injured in last Tuesday's crash along Highway 73 west of Plainfield.
