Updated: 1:55 pm CST March 14, 2006

A state Republican Party fundraiser convicted of illegally raising money while she worked for the state will resign her job, according to GOP party officials.

Republican Party chairman Rick Wiley said that Sherry Schultz and the party have mutually agreed to part ways.

Schultz earned $94,000 a year helping GOP candidates raise money.

A Dane County jury on Saturday found Schultz guilty of felony misconduct in office. Schultz now faces up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

She was convicted along with state Rep. Scott Jensen.
