Parents Traveling To Madison

Updated: 10:03 am CST February 6, 2006

The parents of a missing student have traveled to Madison to find their son who disappeared more than a week ago.

Kenji Ohmi, 20, of Japan, was last seen leaving his dormitory near the state Capitol during the morning of Jan. 28.

Ohmi was enrolled in the Wisconsin English as a Second Language Institute. Its staff and students have met with the Madison Japan Association to help in search efforts.

Police said that there are no signs Ohmi used his credit card to rent a car or buy a bus or plane ticket.

Ohmi is 5 feet tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, jeans and white sneakers.

Madison police and the Japanese consulate in Chicago are assisting in the search, but no one seems to know why he disappeared, WISC-TV reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (608) 266-6014.
