Madison may be a leader when it comes to the art of recycling, but one local woman is on the cutting edge of recycling.

Sacia Lytle uses a unique form of art to give new life to old items.

"I started doing it and I realized I'm recycling," said Lytle.

"I've always loved vintage things. Things made in the 1950s for those with a median income, it's always of higher quality," she said.

Bottle caps are one of Lytle's favorites. But she also creates pendants made of old glass, pictures and pieces of jewelry.

"We're a disposable society," said Lytle. "We throw everything away. This way we can help protect the environment."

And artists like Lytle are putting this area on the cutting edge of the trend.

"It's gaining momentum," said Lytle. "This revamped art. Mixing the new with the old, that's great."

Across the area galleries are also starting to recycle furniture and artwork.

Much of Lytle's interest is coming from the East and West coasts right now.

Her work will also be featured this winter at Mad Craft-Mas at the High Noon Saloon on Friday and Saturday Nov. 26 and 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at Henhouse Productions Art Show at the Atwood Community Center in Madison on Saturday, Dec. 10 and 11 beginning at 10 a.m.
