State and federal officials are investigating the way a travel agency won a state contract.

Company executives at Adelman Travel group made $20,000 dollars in donations to Gov. Jim Doyle's campaign before and after winning a contract to serve as the state's official travel agency. The contract is worth up to $250,000. News 3 reported the governor insists he had nothing to do with it.

"There was a civil servant, not a political appointee, entirely in charge of this. She was not pressured in any way and I'm confident that all of the procedures were followed. I didn't have anything to do with it,” said Doyle.

Virginia based Omega World Travel scored higher in the bid by a selection committee, but since Omega and Adelman were close, the state asked for the "best and final" offer. Adelman's was $30,000 less and won the contract.
