Milwaukee Man Wants Former Teacher's Records

A Milwaukee man begs the Madison Diocese to release information on a teacher he says sexually abused him and dozens of others. Thursday members of the SNAP support group submitted a letter to St. Bernard's in Middleton, asking the parish to release its files on former teacher Gary Kazmarek.

News 3 reported Kazmarek came to the parish from the Milwaukee Diocese in the late 1960s. He's now serving 13 life sentences in a Kentucky jail for sexually abusing five boys there. Last week those victims filed a law suit against the Madison and Milwaukee Dioceses, alleging church officials failed to report the abuse to authorities.

"We would like the bishop to release information so that, if there (are) police reports, we'd like to see them these victims really deserve to know the truth," said Peter Isely, SNAP Midwest director.

"They contacted me and asked me if I had any records... we went downstairs to search for them. The only records we found at the school were the W2 forms," said Msgr. Donald Dushack of St. Bernard's Parish.

The Madison Diocese had no further comment on the victim's request, or the impending lawsuit.
