Doyle To Appeal Decison

Wisconsin will not be getting federal disaster assistance for three counties hit by tornadoes.

Gov. Jim Doyle and the state's congressional delegation asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency for aid for individuals, businesses and local governments in Dane, Richland and Vernon counties.

They said the August tornadoes damaged crops, utilities, rural electric cooperatives and more than 400 homes.

R. David Paulison, of FEMA, said the damage was not enough to be beyond the capabilities of the state and affected local governments.

Doyle said he's going to appeal the decision.
