The fight over air pollution at Madison Kipp Corporation just got a little dirtier.

A state judge has told those battling for and against a Kipp pollution permit -- that a phone threat has prompted police security at next week's hearing, News 3 reported.

In an e-mail, the administrative law judge told them a woman called his office and said, "Someone should shoot people" who object to issuance of the permit "with a sawed-off shotgun," News 3 reported.

Capitol Police are investigating and they will be present at next week's contested case hearing.

Some residents who live near Kipp say pollution from the aluminum and zinc die-casting plant is making them sick. Kipp provides about 600 jobs while melting down 18 million pounds of aluminum a year.
