Friends and family have set up a trust fund for the family of a Montello man killed on Interstate 90, north of Portage, Jan. 18.

Ed Mikolon, 39, had gotten out of his car to help another crash victim when he was hit and killed. He had no life insurance.

With three children, ages 3, 6 and 18, and a baby on the way, his family is stuggling to pay bills, friends said. They are also having a rose sale in March to raise funds. The baby is due on Valentine's Day. (See Fund Info Below)

Heather A. Johnson, 21, of Wisconsin Dells, also died in the multi-car accident. Mikolon's son, Stephen R. Mikolon, 17, and Daniel R. Crawford, 44, of Wales, Wis., were injured.

Mikolon and Johnson were both out of their vehicles when a semi hit their vehicles, officials said.

State Patrol officers urge drivers to be careful on the bridge area near the Wisconsin River, because it is notorious for winter accidents.
