Four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash north of Mineral Point Sunday, officials said.
The crash happened around 2:10 p.m. on Highway 151 and Highway YD, according to the release.
A 1997 Toyota being operated by 34-year-old Anthony Cain Jr., of St. Joseph Ill., was northbound on Highway 151 when he struck a 2013 Chevy Equinox being operated by William Buckingham, 86, of Mineral Point., according to the release.
Buckingham’s passenger, his 86-year-old wife, had to be extricated from the car, officials said. Both were transported to Dodgeville Hospital for their injuries.
Cain also had to be extricated from his vehicle and was transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital, police said. Cain’s passenger, 20-year-old Garrett Smart, of rural Mineral Point, was transported to Dodgeville Hospital.
Cain’s injuries are believed to be serious, according to the release. The Buckinghams' and Smart’s injuries are believed to not be serious.
Speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash, officials said. The crash remains under investigation.
