Doctors in China recently removed a 3-inch nail from a man's head.

Yang Yi Kui, 55, was operating a cutting machine last month when a nail that had been caught in the device flew out and "ripped into my head and left a small hole on the skin," he told Metro.

He didn't realize anything was wrong until the next morning, when he said he began to feel sick.

An X-ray revealed the nail piercing through his skull just above his eye.

Doctors had to perform a craniotomy to remove the nail, removing a piece of his skull to access the brain.

It was a risky procedure, but Yang's nerves and eyesight were unscathed and he's now recovering.
