FITCHBURG, Wis. -- Police said Wednesday they want to reunite a missing Fitchburg man with his family for this holiday weekend. However, they gave no indication they're closer to finding him.Fitchburg Deputy Chief Don Bates said the search for Amos Mortier continues, and the 27-year-old MATC student may be in danger. Bates would also not rule out a kidnapping scenario.Investigators said Wednesday Mortier has Milwaukee connections they are checking out, and they still don't have a logical explanation for his disappearance. Bates said Mortier volunteered at "Growing Power," an urban agriculture organization in Milwaukee, but he wouldn't say how that relates to the case.Fitchburg police also released a missing person flyer with Mortier's pictures on Wednesday. Those who know Mortier say he would never leave his dog alone -- that's why investigators think someone perhaps grabbed him. The dog was found wandering without a collar last week."We have reason to believe through our investigation that Amos is not only missing, but in danger," Bates said. "We cannot uncover any logical explanation for Amos' absence."Authorities have searched a one-mile radius around Mortier's home off Lacy Road in Fitchburg. They have also searched land Mortier owns in Grant County and Dane County by air.Investigators are asking anyone with information, even if you think it's insignificant, to call Fitchburg Police at (608) 270-4300.
