Man Stabbed At Green Party Meeting Downtown Madison

Madison police are investigating a stabbing at the downtown library on Mifflin Street Monday night.

Two men were sitting at a table at a Green Party meeting, when one stabbed the other in the chest with a pocketknife, police said. Police said the victim touched the suspect, which made him uncomfortable.

Police arrested Erik Petterson, 33, of Madison, and took him to Mendota Mental Health Institute.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
