Van Crash: More Lawsuits Filed
JANESVILLE, Wis., Posted 8:38 a.m. June 16, 1999 -- There's more litigation in the Rock County van crash that killed seven young people last March.
The parents of one of teens killed in a van crash, Marshall Roberts, are suing the magazine sales companies that employed their 16-year-old son.
The lawsuit was filed in Rock County Circuit Court on behalf of Albert and Deanna Roberts DeWitt of Iowa.
It alleges the companies' owners violated labor laws and acted recklessly.
The 14 people in the van at the time it crashed worked for YES, a company that travels across the country selling door-to-door subscriptions.
The lawsuit seeks punitive damages from the owner of YES and Subscriptions Plus, the company that processed the subscriptions.
Lawsuits have also been filed on behalf of two people injured in the crash.
The man driving the van at the time of the crash was sentenced last week to seven years in prison. Full Story
