Police continue to investigate the death of a Madison man on the city’s east side.

Officials said Terry Williams, 39, was not the victim of a homicide, but they are still calling the death suspicious.

911 got a call at about 8:45 Wednesday that there was a man down in an alley way in the 2100 block of Winnebago Street. Officers found Williams, who was reportedly bleeding, and tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

Officers are in the neighborhood trying to find witnesses. Neighbors told News 3 even though it's not being called a homicide, they are uneasy.

"It was tragic and shocking," one neighbor said. "We were a little bit afraid. I mean, we've never had much action of any kind like that around the neighborhood, so it was pretty startling."

Dane County Coroner John Stanley told News 3 the cause of death could be drugs, a suicide or natural causes. Officials completed an autopsy Thursday, but results are pending.

Stanley said he can not find the man's family and is asking for the public's help.
