BELOIT, Wis. -

A second man was arrested in connection with a 2012 shooting at a Beloit tavern in August.

Authorities in Chicago arrested Samuel Jones, 30, on a warrant from Beloit on Monday at about 3:25 p.m., the Beloit Police Department said.

Police said the warrant was issued as a result of an investigation into a shooting at the 1300 block of East Grand Avenue on Aug. 4, 2012.

According to Beloit police, a 22-year-old Beloit man was shot while in a vehicle in the Turtle Tap parking lot on Aug. 4. Police said the victim fled the scene and drove to a home in the 1200 of Keeler Avenue where the victim received a ride from a friend to a hospital in Rockford, Ill. Police said the victim sustained non-life threatening wounds.

According to the report, Jones is being held in the Cook County Jail awaiting an extradition proceeding back to Wisconsin. The Rock County District Attorney’s Office will be coordinating the extradition with the Illinois State’s Attorney Office.

Terrell Peppers, 31, of Beloit was arrested in December on suspicion of first-degree homicide and is awaiting trial.

Police said a warrant for attempted first-degree homicide was issued for a third suspect, Charles A. Steel, 30, who remains at large.
